Barangay Service Workers receive PhilHealth IDs

A TOTAL of 481 Barangay Service Workers in Roxas City, Capiz are covered by the state-run health insurance program and received their PhilHealth IDs as a passport to quality health care services afforded by the state-run health insurer.

In a Memorandum of Agreement forged between PhilHealth and the Provincial Government of Capiz, barangay service workers (BSW) are given access to health care services and are protected against financial burden of hospitalization or medical cost.

Capiz Governor Antonio A. Del Rosario said that the coverage of BSWs is a demonstration the province’s love and concern for the volunteers who provide services to the barangay adding that the province has annually allocated a budget to ensure continuous coverage of these barangay workers.

PhilHealth head for Western Visayas Lourdes F. Diocson commended the province’s strong support to the programs of PhilHealth through enrollment of its constituents which contributed to the 94% coverage rate in the region.

“The goal of Universal Health Care goes beyond upkeeping the health and well-being of its members. It also contributes to building a more progressive, fair and suitable society. That is why we have been working doubly-hard to make PhilHealth services and benefits relevant to the lives of every Filipino family,” Diocson said.

Enrolled barangay service workers are entitled to PhilHealth In-Patient, Out-Patient, Special Benefit and Z benefits and even avail of the preventive services under the Primary Care Benefits (PCB) which include consultation and free diagnostic examinations like CBC, fecalysis, sputum microscopy, chest x-ray among others in their respective Rural Health Units or Health Centers.

“The Primary Care Benefit package is part of the holistic medical services of the Corporation which will be expanded soon to cover Formal Economy members or those who are working in private and government institutions, Senior Citizens and Lifetime members,” Diocson said.

She also reminded PhilHealth members to update their records to the nearest PhilHealth Office to avoid problems in availment.

PhilHealth VI will also be releasing the IDs and Member Data Records of more than 1.5 Million Indigent members who are automatically renewed for CY 2018 coverage. (Public Affairs Unit – PhilHealth 6)
