Capiz gets 2 new ambulances

ROXAS City – The provincial government of Capiz has acquired two new ambulances.

The ambulances – equipped with emergency medical paraphernalia – will be used by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office’s Capiz Emergency Response Team, or locally known as Aksyon Tabang.

Gov. Antonio del Rosario led the blessing of the newly purchased ambulances worth P5.6 million on Nov. 15.

“These two new units are in addition to the other two ambulances of the provincial government,” said del Rosario.

The Capiz Emergency Response Team has been providing round-the-clock emergency response in the province.

Earlier this year, the provincial government also bought five brand new ambulances for government-run hospitals in Capiz such as the district hospitals in Tapaz, Mambusao, Dao and Pontevedra towns and the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital in this capital city.

But Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Esperedion Pelaez said they will need additional ambulances for the Aksyon Tabang satellite offices in Pontevedra and Sigma, which will soon operate.

Pelaez said they are receiving an average of 10 emergency calls daily. (PIA/PN)
