Provincial public library to be reactivated

ROXAS CITY – Capiz Board Member Jonathan “Sonny” Besa pushed a resolution reactivating the operation of the provincial public library and was approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) during its regular session at the SP Session Hall, Provincial Capitol here, May 12, 2011.

The said resolution was in pursuant to Republic Act 7743 of 1993 which mandates the establishment of provincial, city and municipal libraries and barangay reading centers.

“The Capiz Provincial Library has been inoperative and unused for more than three years and it should be reactivated in order to realize and pursue the government policies in education,” Board Member Besa disclosed.

Gov. Victor Tanco on the other hand expressed his support on the said project. “The reactivation of the library will promote quality education for the Capizeño,” Gov. Tanco quipped.

The proposed site for the reactivated provincial library will be at the constructed Provincial Government Center, corner San Roque Extension and Fuentes Drive, Roxas City. Furthermore, the reactivated library will be equipped with computers with internet as a research tool. (cppb/Arnold Alarcon Jr./Froilan Unarce)
