Summit to tackle Capiz watershed conservation

ROXAS CITY – Gov. Victor A. Tanco and the provincial government of Capiz extend their full support to the watershed summit scheduled on March of this year.

A meeting was held last January 11 at the Hall of Governors, Provincial Capitol here to discuss the preparations and further details for the incoming event.

Each Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officers (MENRO) is expected to give presentations on the status of the watersheds in their respective municipalities.

According to Dr. Jessica Salas, President of the Philippine Watershed Management Coalition Development Administration (PWMCDA), the preservation and conservation of watersheds will help minimize the flooding incidents of some towns in the province of Capiz.

On the other hand, Governor Tanco assures that the provincial government continues to monitor the conditions of the 47 watersheds in our province, through the Capiz Sustainable Development Council (CSDC).

CSDC is composed of Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Capiz State University, Kiwanis, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) and the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC).
